Political Marketing

sarko.docThe first principle a politician has to respect is to study the behavior of the voters. That is to say, he must know the stakes on which they pay attention. It is as a company that must know the market in which it sells its products or services. In this research, the politician does not hesitate to meet the populations in order to figure out the problems they face. Then, he can propose a program, his product. Besides, he must bear in mind the reactions of his competitors.The past, the achievements, his way of expressing himself and his physical appearance are very important. I would say that it is as important as the relevance his messages, his program that must enables him to distinguish himself from his competitors.

The last importing thing to do is to communicate in a very understanding way. Be simple in the ideas. Short words, familiar expressions, insure the voters by the message, do promises. Do not hesitate to repeat as often as it is possible. The best way to succeed all this is to be Charismatic. Because, a politician has only one weapon: his word, his capacty to make a person believe in a project. So a politician must never loose an opportinity to be convincing.

For my first post, I would like to start with the increasing role that internet plays in the political arena.

Nowadays, all politicians have a site in which their program is avaible. Internet is another way to be in toch with the populations, the voters.  So, they can exchange with their activists who can leave messages. As a result,  this mean of communication, whose most of users are young, became impossible to circumvent.

Does internet always serve the politicians? No! we can remember the case of Jack Lang who wrote in his site that he had been applauded during a festival he attended. However, the Net surfers and journalists who  were at the festival contradicted him. He was ridiculous.(watch the video). Bush is also caricatured in the net.  (watch the video).

Whatever we can say Internet is today a powerful mean of communication.

I have decided to talk about political marketing. What is political marketing? It is a variety of methods the political organisations or a person can use in order to define a program or/and to influence the voters’ behaviour, in a large way the people’s behaviour to which they address their messages.

In political marketing, we can identify the classic ”4P” we find in traditionnal marketing. In fact, the product is the candidate, the promotion the ads, the distribution the visited places and the price is the vote.

I will talk about the principles of political marketing
